Headlight idea

Just spitballing an idea, would LED bulbs work in OEM headlight that the reflector part of the inside has been painted all black? Would it still put out enough light at night? My headlights are flaking bad on the inside, I seen some almost perfect ones at the junkyard, thought I might buy them and install on Runner and paint the others ones and see if it works. Anyone tired this?

In theory, the LED bulbs that are intended to replace the normal tungsten bulbs would not work without a real aluminized reflector. If there are LED bulbs that contain their own projector optics, then that could work.

Most likely not.

Do a HID projector retrofit on your old peeling headlights. The original reflectors can be painted over with no issues since none of the optics are required.

If you go to TheRetrofitSource and look at retrofit kits you can get the cheapest option for $130. I went with that one and the output was wayyyyy better than stock. Make sure you research the retrofit process because it is pretty involved.
