Headlight lenses made of glass? 2000 Limited

The problem with used is that the reflector gets a coating of dirt over the years. That's why I went with new TYC over used. New OEM is too expensive.

Good point, I'll keep an eye out for excessive dirt. But at some point I might go the retrofit route anyway, in which case it's only the lens I care about.

How good are the TYC's? In my experience, aftermarket headlights often differ from OEM in the areas of mounts, attachments, adjusters, etc - and usually for the worse. Are TYC's pretty comparable to OEM in that area?

I can’t comment on tyc but I recently bought Depo’s for $88 for my retrofit and the quality is very good.

I can’t comment on tyc but I recently bought Depo’s for $88 for my retrofit and the quality is very good. They are so cheap I think it’s worth buying new, no glass putting, no dusty housing etc.

TYC's are the best aftermarket housing out there for our trucks. I did a ton of research on this 3 years ago when mine needed replacement. They fit perfect but the plastic backing & screw adjusters are lower quality as expected.
They were so much brighter than the OEM's they replaced. That's when I noticed the layer of baked on dust on the old reflectors.

The plastic mount and adjusting screws are very nice on the depos. I was planning on using the stock mounts but the depo’s felt just as sturdy and well built, I was surprised.

I need to put a layer of grease or anti seize on my TYC screws before they rust away. I keep forgetting...for 3 years now. LOL

Just curious, is it possible to open up the used headlights to remove the dust on the reflector (like one does when doing the retrofit), or is that just not worth it and I should buy new ones (Depo or TYC)? I sort of think I know the answer .

These came in yesterday. I got them off of eBay from a 2000 model for $75 shipped. They have a little bit of dust in them but are in really good shape. I'm sure even being a little dirty they will shine brighter than my factory 96 ones.

Plexiglass is polycarbonate, but not necessarily the other way around (plexiglass is a trade name)

Got mine put on also. I wish mine had came attached to the mounting back piece. I had to put them on my 96's.
