Headlight lenses made of glass? 2000 Limited

Plexiglass is polycarbonate, but not necessarily the other way around (plexiglass is a trade name)

Plexiglas is acrylic, not PC. Another brand I've seen locally is Acrylan.
You've heard of Lexan?...that's polycarbonate. Lexan is stronger...better for bulletproof windows...but both types of plastic are easily scratched and extremely vulnerable to chemicals and UV.
As for the comment that the TY aftermarket units have slightly lower quality component parts, it is hard to imagine a shabbier design and build than the OEM headlights on my '97.

Got mine put on also. I wish mine had came attached to the mounting back piece. I had to put them on my 96's.

Looks good! Mine also came without the back brackets, so I had to transfer them. I guess it gave me the opportunity to clean everything up in the process!

My 2001 has glass lenses. I didn't realize this until a huge rock hit my right headlight and punched a hole in it about a month ago. Unfortunately they are discontinued so I'll probably have to look for a replacement at the junkyard.

They're not discontinued, I just bought a set recently.

The Toyota sourced OEM ones have been sold out---discontinued---for a few years. If you recently got new OEM units, you have been most fortunate.
Most now buy the TYC brand replacements, they are reputed to be the highest quality of the indie units.

Plenty available everywhere, I bought a set of these last month.

You can readily get the housings (like Leon did) and the brackets separately, but "complete" assemblies as in the housings and brackets together have been discontinued.

And of course it costs us more than the complete assembly LOL. I found one complete headlight (think passenger side) still listed in a online Toyota dealer parts place, emailed them about availability and turned out they just didn't update their site :Cry:
