headlight problem

Hey Everyone,

I have an unusual headlight problem. When I turn on my headlights the driver side headlight does not turn on. However, when I open up the hood and take out the headlight a little and shake it around some it turns on. I've had to do this for the last 2 weeks to get it to work. I have no idea what is going on here. I tried to do a search but could not find anyone else with the same problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried replacing the headlight bulb? I had that happen before with drop lights. The bulb goes out, but when I bump it around a bit it'll work. What happens is the filament breaks and reconnects itself and the bulb works again.

Yeah I've tried replacing the bulb already. This is the second set of bulbs its happened on.

Have you tried using some dielectric grease on the connectors? Take the bulb out, put some grease on it, put the bulb back in.

No I have not tried that. Where can I buy dielectric grease?

Any auto parts store should have it, probably in a small single use packet. I know Advanced Auto has it for sure.
