headlight question

Hey guys! I've had my 05 4runner for 7 months now and since I've had it the headlight warning light is on when the headlights are on. All of the lights are working. Any ideas? Also I want to replace the headlight assembly with projectors. Will they fit? And if so what year should I get them from? Thanks for any ideas!

Not familiar with a headlight warning light. please expand.

I think you can install later model projector headlights into your truck with some slight modification. There are also aftermarket projector housings available that are a more direct drop in. There are a lot of threads on it. Try searching.

Since the gauge is always backlit while truck is running, that light is there to let you know if your headlights are actually on or off.
As for projectors, there are tons of threads on here about them - should be able to find tons of info by using the search feature.

I am not aware if a headlight warning light in the 05s. Sure you are not talking about the maintience reminder light? Or the TPMS light?

You can replace the entire headlight with oem projector housing from a 06-09, but you will also have to swap our a few other body parts to make it work. I would just suggest doing a retro fit with either tuned rx330 projectors or the MH1 D2S projectors from the retrofit source.

Yes it is definitely for the headlights. It only goes on and off with the headlights. Monty said it's supposed to be like that but this is my first 4runner so I wasn't sure.

Are you talking about the headlight on indicator. Looks like a cartoon sun? If so, that's just telling you the headlights are on.

Yes it is just above the maintenance light and tpms light. I had an old camry that the light only came on when there was a problem. I'm glad there is nothing wrong, I thought there might be an electrical problem.

u can install projectors...or retrofit if you got upto $600 to burn. if not a spec d drop in assy is decent...or you go the 08-09 hl assy route

Posting a photo would help. But could the light be the indicator that you have your "Highbeams" on?

Dose your Owners Manuel give you any more information? Click the link below. The information on this site seems to indicate the symbol just informs you that your lights are on.

Thanks so much sr5hi! That was a very informative site. I guess the light does just Indicate the headlights are on. In my old camry that light only comes on when something is burned out.
