Headlight question....

So I am in the middle of retrofitting my 2003 headlights with low beam projector housings to eventually be converted to HID....all is going well, like the look, etc. etc....what I want to know is, even tho I know you shouldn't put HID's as your brights, can you still make them projector as well? Would that mess up the concept of "Brights" since it narrows the beam? Would it even be worthwhile to try?
Any thoughts, opinions, info. would be most appreciated.....Much Thanks!!!

You would have a double xenon projector system and probably one of the best light systems around! There are double projectors, which differ from bi-xenon systems that shift the position of the lamp inside the projector for low/high beam. It is just a matter of finding the proper projector for your high beams as well. Off hand the VW Phaeton has this system, maybe an audi A8?

Yes, you can put HID projectors in your highbeams. The main reason, not to use HIDs for highbeams is because it takes a few seconds for HID to fully light up. If you were driving with the HID highbeams on for a long period of time it would be ok. But if highbeams are only on when you flash them, it's hard on the ballasts and burners, shortening their life span. But most vehicles equipped with HIDs for highbeams have bi-xenon projectors. The shield is movable in bi-xenon projectors.

hey guys,

I saw these on ebay today. Are these any better than the ones that come on the 06 4runner. I know it is probably better than the earlier years because they did not come with a projector. Any thoughts? I really want to upgrade to the HID's, I just want to find the best and easiest kit.

Well, first of all, I have heard that there are some possible fitment issues with those headlights, second, if you have an "06 then you already have very good projectors, better than what comes with those replacements I'm sure., third, 8000k is WAY to high to be useful and actually is probably illegal for road use anyway. IMO...If you want a quality HID kit, go to www.xenondepot.com....

i recommend not going any higher than 6k kelvin rated bulbs.

Yes, your best bet, as far as light output, would be 4300k - 5000k range.
