What's differences before and after lift? 2 inches?![]()
Mike I doubt the number of inches in the lift is the reason for readjusting the headlight beam. You're right if the front and back were each raised 2 inches then the light to an oncoming driver wouldn't be different to the naked eye
However this isn't about those 2 inches, it's about the difference in the angle of the beam after the lift. For example using a popular Daystar lift puts the front end up 2.5 inches, but the back only 1.5 inches. That 1 inch difference changes the headlight beam to more upward angle. An angle which could possibly affect an oncoming driver.
In some cases people here have reported raising their front 1.5 or even 2 inches, but leaving the back alone to more or less "level out" their Runner. Then of course the angle of the headlight is changed even more in an upward angle. Think about it, changing a light beam angle just a little can make pretty big difference where it hits an oncoming car after being projected out 100' or 200' feet. In fact the farther away the car is, the higher up the new angle hits them.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but most Toyota vehicles seem to have they're headlights adjusted a little too high from the factory, more so than other makes. Maybe this is just me but the Sienna is terrible and the Tundra.
