Headlights not working!!!

Had to make an early run to work this morning only to discover my low beams are not functioning. Highs are good, fogs are good, but no lows.

Figure I blew a fuse. Come to find out in my owners book that each bulb has it's own fuse.

Checked the fuses and their good. Probally a relay?

My question is; Which one is the low beam relay? The Owners manual doesn't show that.

I'm still under the 36,000 miles but I'd hate to waste all the time at my stealership for a simple relay.

Not trying to to be a smart-ass, but did you check to make sure the bulbs are OK? Sometimes we overlook the obvious.

It was quite early when I came in this morning and was only able to check the fuses. I still have the original bulbs I took out 6 months ago. I'll try that first. Seems odd that both bulbs would go out at the same time, and these Silverstars are only 6 months old.

Well I'll be damned!

Both bulbs burned out at the same time. A surge maybe? Maybe a problem in the electrical system to the lights?

I guess a trip is in order to the stealership.

Now if the electrical system checks out OK, what is the Warrenty on the Sylvania Silver Stars?

They were installed on 11/3/04, under 7 months ago.

I put the stock bulbs back in ...... for now.

Anyone else ever had a problem with the Silver Stars?

I don't have first hand experience with Silverstars.. I was going to get them before, and still may, but I've heard that a lot of people have had issues with them burning out quick, in a year or less..

I had a similar thing happen to me when I had a truck a few years ago. Both high beams burned out at the exact same time and to me it seemed strange that it would happen at exactly the same time so I took it to the dealership and they called me a few hours later to tell me it was just the bulbs and everything else was okay, so I guess it happens, although Silverstars should last longer than 6 months.

Just a Silver Star update:

I just finished talking with Sylvania about the bulbs and he (the rep.) said they do last for only about a year, depending on how much you use them.

Since I have proof of my purchase, less than 7 months, they gave me the option of a refund or new bulbs sent to me. I do like the brightness of the bulbs so I took the replacements. If and when they fail again, I may be putting in the originals or finding some other bulb.

Sylvania was very eager to stand behind their product.

I'll mail them out today and let you know when the replacements get here.

i'm not surprised they burned out early.mine only lasted half that long.i'll look elsewhere this time.

The Halogen blubs are usually rated for 20 hr or 100 hr life.

The Silverstars are brighter because they run the filament
hotter, the hotter the filament the shorter the blub life.

Is there such a thing on the market, as a longer lasting bulb that is just as white and bright as the Silver Stars?

GE Nighthawk Bulbs?

I just installed a new set after running them for about year... while I was at Wally world, I noticed that GE has new bulbs out called GE NIGHTHAWKS -- their response to Sylvania Silverstars I'm guessing -- there wasn't any data as to the light temperature rating or anything, but they were only $28 for a pair, vs. the $38/pair for the Silverstars. Has anyone tried them yet?

I bought a set of the GE NIGHTHAWK 9007 headlight bulbs on 4/11. They are good, but still not as bright as I wanted. If I had to describe their brightness, I would have to they are pretty close to Sylvania Cool Blues.

That being said, I exchanged the NIGHTHAWK bulbs for some Sylvania SilverStar 9007 headlight bulbs on 4/21. MUCH BETTER! The light from the SilverStars is perfectly white and I can see more at night. The light hasno blue tint even though the bulb's glass has a blue tint. I like my light

Hi guys, my 5th gen 4runner one of the high beams is not working, I put in new ones still the same. I know it looks like wiring problem. Can it be a fuse issue. If it is a wiring issue where should I start? Only one high beam doesn't work. Bulbs are fine
