headlights out

ok been battling with this one for a while now, here is what i have. turn headlights on, no low lights come on, no highs come on when switched to high, nor does the fogs work either. Here is the kicker, when you use the headlight joystick to flash someone the lights work, keep the joystick pressed in, ( basically holding in the flash) the lights stay on. Checked the joystick, relay fuses, everything checks out just fine. Anyone have this problem, oh and all the bulbs work just fine too.

Never seen that. How did you check the 'joystick'?

'99 without DRL, right? So common is 12V+ and the grounds are switched. Next step would be to verify which is missing at the bulb when highs are on: 12v+ at the bulb common terminal or ground at the high filament terminal. Obviously, one has to be missing since bulbs are good.

I think it's the 'joystick' but these answers will get me closer to sure (or not).

checked the joystick by the continuity and ohms as well as the actual voltage havent checked the voltage at bulbs yet, but i will thanks, oh and here is the funny part, i had a joystick, headlight relay laying around from an older project, and plugged them both in and it still did it
