So, I've been looking and can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

I have great headlights on right now but I've always wanted to have that really bright blue look without having to do an HID conversion. I thought I remembered seeing a picture of a truck with some blue headlights that weren't HID. Does anyone know where I could get these for my 05' SE?

I just saw an FJ driving in Oregon with some blue headlights and really would like this look for my 4R. :D

Any help greatly appreciated.

The cost of those lights are close to HID's I think!?


Is there a HID for 2005 SE's that supply low and high beam?

I can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere.


Good thought on the blue look....I'm after that too.
 
Are you referring to blue light output from the bulbs, or the blue film that goes over the lens itself?
 

the output. I've seen trucks incl 4Rs with lights that have a blue color to them and hace been decently bright as well.
I'm sure there has to be a bulb like that. Right?

There are bulbs that emit blue light, but the problem with that is you lose quite a bit of light output from them, so if you want blue, unfortunately the best route is HID.

You can always look up the cheaper HID kits which sell for around $75 rather than the $240 kits that XenonDepot sells.

I got mine from XenonDepot (The $240 kits). The 4300K is nice, looks OEM and was a MASSIVE improvement over the PIAA's I had in before. I am contemplating the idea of getting 5000K or 6500K though to give them a bit more of a bluish hue to them.

For now though, these have the most light output, which is what I got them for.
 

Ya I think I might just have to start setting money aside for some hids. After I get my 285s that is.

Definitly go with the HID's. I had a couple sets of look a like HID's, they are a waste of money. I had Piaas, Silverstars and some other brand. Except for the silverstars, they all burned out after a year. The bulbs were $60-$90.

HID's are so much better and last a lot longer. I got mine from retrosolutions.com, a 55 watt kit for the low beams and a 35 watt kid for the fog lights, both 6000k all for $300. They were really helpful and they come with a lifetime warrantee.

What about the high beams?

Does one lose functionality of high beams when going to HID, in my 97 T4R I did, I'm curious if there's a HID kit that enables high and low beams?

I got the 6000k for my low beams and 3000k for my fogs. I love them! You won't be disappointed. Here is a picture of my setup.

Hmm, i'm not sure. It was working fine this morning. There are a lot of different sellers you can buy from. When I bought mine I just tped in 4runner hid kit and chose the one with a good rating and close to me.

Yeah the blueish ones are my regular low beams. I didn't do anything to high beams, because I didn't want to have 6 ballasts in there, and you really don't need them with the HIDs because they are so bright. The only time i've used them is driving up the mountain road at night, and I hate having the yellow fogs turn off with the high beams on

I'm not sure what year your 4runner is, but for the 06' the high beams are at a seperate area not attatched to the low beams, so if you wanted those HID's you'd have to buy a total of 4 bulbs 4 ballasts and couldn't go with the "attatched high + low combo. hope that helps.





21 hours! wow long drive :/ I was actually up there myself a couple weeks ago. Once you put your lights on you gotta take pics! :D
 
You cannot use HID's as high beams. They will be useless when flashing people because they take time to heat up. Also, turning HID bulbs on/off quickly is extremely bad for the bulbs.
