Headliner

Wondering if members are familiar with whether it can be a major task lifting a small section of the rear headliner just above the rear window?

Have a 90 T4r and a branch placed an decent indentation just to the right of the rear wiper blade. I though of trying to pop the dent out from inside but after taking a gander at the headliner it appears lifting and separating the trim around the window from the headliner could be a major task. Hoping I don't have to make the repair from the outside which could be even more of a pain in the backside. Comments/suggestions appreciated.

It can be dropped fairly easy if you're careful.....undo any screws, peek behind each piece of trim, they're usually christmas tree push in/pull out fasteners. Sometimes they'll break if you just yank on them, there's also little metal brackets that again push in/pull out, sometimes you'll have to remove the metal part and insert it back into the slot in the metal behind the trim. If any seat belts are going thru trim that keep the trim from loosening enough to lower the board, they're easily unbolted.

If it's only the back area you need access to, just remove both the rear side pieces and the very rear piece of trim, any rear dome light and push in fasteners that my be behind the rear trim piece. The board should be flexible enough to let you get your hands up inside of there, if not, take more trim off.....the headliner removes through the back hatch.

Average removal is 30-45 minutes, taking your time. It goes back together much faster. Use an ice pick to line up the holes when you reinstall the headliner. I do those for a living, they're not hard....just take your time, you'll do fine.

Edit to add.....you can put something up in the gap/area like a throw pillow doubled over ( or 2 ), to give u room to get a hammer in there.

Info greatly appreciated, I was not sure what to expect and did not want to open the area and find I created another problem. This weekend intend using your instructions and see if I can gain access to the area and make the repair. Again, can not thank you enough!!
