Heated not blowing warm air after initial few minutes

I have a weird "problem" I have my heat set to 70 degrees and in the auto mode. Start the car, drive around, and first 10 minutes or so, it blows nice and warm air. Then it levels off and starts blowing almost cool air for the rest of the ride.

Yes, I get that the cabin temperature has probably reached 70 and it is just maintaining it. But it doesn't feel 70. The cool air blowing is driving me nuts. I can get the warm air flowing again by turning the heat up manually to an obscene 76 or 77 degrees, but not otherwise.

Outside temperature is high 50s or low 60s. But the 10 degree difference between outside and desired temp on the inside should necessitate warm air blowing consistently? Same behavior even if I take it out of auto and try to control it manually - warm air at first, then neutral/cool air rest of journey.

I checked the coolant level and it seems right on the money. Any thoughts?

My 07 is doing this too, seems as though the temp sensor is acting up/dirty or not reading cabin temp correctly.

Not sure the solution yet...

what happens if you take it off auto, and set the temp to HI?

what happens if you take it off auto, and set the temp to HI?

If I set the temperature to HI (meaning I set it to over 85 degrees, as HI only shows up past 85), it blows hot. I would like it to blow warm at much lower temperatures.

I believe the interior temperature sensor is on the kick panel at the driver's side on the right side behind that little vent. It gets dirty fast. Just pop it out clean it off, should be hooked to a little tube.
