Hey everyone, I'm going to replace my heater core this weekend and my AC compressor, dryer, and expansion valve. I found some good info on here on how to take my dash apart and get to the heater core and expansion valve, and I think the AC compressor and dryer should not be to bad but I have some questions.
1. any suggestions for anything I should replace or check while I have the dash open? I know I need to replace some light bulbs while it open.
2. How much oil should I put in the ac components when I put them in? I saw somewhere I need to put oil in the top of the compressor, and some in the dryer and Expansion valve?
3. While I have the evaporator out should I flush it somehow? Do they go bad and should be replaced?
4. besides disconnecting the battery, any issues with the Airbags going off?
I will replace the belts while I have them off, and my thermostat. The ac system was evacuated by a shop last weekend to prepare for the big job this weekend. My 2wd 97 4runner is almost close to 400,000 miles. AC has been working on and off for 2 years, service guy last year said he thought my expansion valve was sticking or not working do to no pressure on one side so that's why I am replacing it, heater core keeps getting clogged so that's why I'm replacing it, and my ac compressor pulley and belt is wobbling so I got a compressor, expansion valve and dryer kit for $180 on amazon so with the miles I decided to replace it all at once. Then get it re-serviced.
Any tips are welcomed!!!
On s separate note I need to replace my door seals on my next project ( mine are tearing off) I will look for the forums but any tips of part numbers or after market kits?
