Heater Hoses

Just want to confirm... I need to flush out the heater coil and want to make sure I'm pushing water in the right hoses. The red circles are the hoses going into the firewall, (obstructed view) and the green lines are the two hoses I need to flush? The picture of the heater hoses in Haynes, (Chapter 3-5) is not the same as my truck.

Refurbished my old radiator for $125 to get all the gunk and rust out and flushed the system. Thinking of going to Red coolant but I want to make sure I get all the green out first. I've been searching on the forum for specific pictures of the hoses but can't find it. Hope this helps someone out down the road...

Those look like they may be the right ones. You're only going to have 2 coolant lines going INTO the cabin so that makes it easy.

It does not matter which way you flush the system (though back flushing it may not be a bad idea since they can form gunk based on coolant flow) as the heater core has no valves or one-way passages.

Thanks Blackworks. Drained the radiator to replace a leaking thermostat housing, (only to find it empty without a thermostat) and my cooling system overhaul began. Radiator was just filled with brown sludge. Pulled it out and took it to a local shop for cleaning and just reinstalled. Wanted to get all the coolant out of course as to not mix the old with new.

Still trying to determine if that Red coolant is the way to go... Entire system is flushed and cleaned, (still using the same hoses though) so I'll get this heater core flushed and I'll be ready for the Texas Summer.

Update...

I've attached the right picture with the hoses that need to be pulled to flush the heater core. Make sure you flip the heater on and flush it with a garden hose. I was expecting some gunk but it was pretty clean coolant. Anyways, the flush is done and I'm filling it up with the Red. :)
