heater not blowing warm air

I have a 1996 with the 3.4L 4x4 I think its an SR5 model but only has a front heater. It does not blow warm air.

Its not to cold in southern California so this is tolerable to a point but I have replaced the heater control valve with one from Napa, flushed the heater core buy plugging my house water hose to it, and replaced heater core hoses. Nothing changed or helped.

the hot / cold switch on the dash board moves the heater control valve so I assume that's working. What else could it be or what else should I check? id like to take it up to the mountains and snow this winter but no heater is alittle worrisome.

Is your engine warming up to operating temp? Hook a scanner to it and make sure the engine is getting hot. Thermostat could be stuck open.

does it blow ice cold air? or is there a tiny bit of warmth to it?

if its ice cold, its probably the blend door.

move the hot/cold lever, while laying under the dash. you should be able to see the cable end moving. its probably disconnected from the blend door lever.

both heater hoses must be hot if not then no flow . problem is in the flow thru heater core.

with both hoses hot then an air box door issue .

I second this. Someone must have kicked mine loose. it is on the passenger side and it simply popped out of the holder that holds it. I pushed it all the way to hot and re inserted the cable wear its supposed to go.

Check the coolant level.

Fixed, heater core hoses were both hot. Looked under passenger side dash and noticed the cable that moved the door was not clipped in. Clipped it in and i now have warm air.
