Hella 500 question...

Hella 500 comes in fog or driving. The driving is more of a pencil beam where as the fog is more of a flood type lamp. I am planning on getting a pair but can't decide which to get. I plan on using them on long road trips, which are usually at night and mostly on back highways, but will probably use them around town some.....hhhmmmm....I know the fogs would be better around town, but the driving would be better on the open road.....let me hear what you think. Thanks.

i think you should definiately get the drivings cause you travel a lot at night. i think you don't need the fogs cause the 4runner already has fogs for driving around town.

After going through two sets of after market lights, and the last being PIAA's, there really isn't much difference using the existing, fog and high beams with the additionals. I can see if you are doing some serious off-roading and you want additional lights to light up at different angles that the existing lights do not.

It's just my 2 cents, but if I could turn back the clock I would keep everything stock. Not saying because it doesn't work: it works great. Just I do not see any gain in everything I did.

What about better, brighter bulbs for your existing low's, high's and fog's?

Are the Hella's legal to use on the street? I remember having Hella's on my Jeep and they were like airplane landing lights!....super bright blinding lights.

I too had Hella's on my Jeep Wrangler and they too were blinding. So blinding that I had them on during the day and did not know it, and the driver infront of me was really mad. Took awhile to figure out why.

But then you have to consider these were Jeeps, not 4 Runners. So the lights on our Jeeps may or probably have been not as bright as the light on our 4 Runners.
