Hella Supertone Horn Wiring on 97

Me again. I tried to install the Hella Supertones. I noticed a difference b/t the pass and driver side horn wires. The pass only has one wire. The driver side has two.

I used the stock relay and the horn now only sounds different, not louder

Anyone have this issue? help.

Did you ground both of them? Each horn has two terminals lugs. Connect the existing wiring (hot leads) to each side of the horns. Then run a ground wire to the remaining terminal lug, and ground it to the frame. It sounds like only one of your horns is working.

Yes, i grounded one prong of each horn to the bolt which mounts the horn. Then i (passenger side) took the wire (quantity: 1) and connected it to the other horn prong. On the driver's side i connected the wires (quantity: 2) to the positive horn prong. Sounds terrible.

I did test the horns directly to the battery. I practically crapped my pants and nearly dropped it! L-O-U-D! Something is not right. My Hella horn sounds like a dying duck. Thanks again for any help.

Any idea where the stock relay is? Maybe using the Hella relay will help? (but doubt it)

Trust me on this one (I've been there); you do not have it grounded properly. You know you have power, as they work, so it can only be a poor ground. Be careful of painted surfaces, they do not ground well, if at all. It is not the relay.

I'll sand down the paint where the bolt meets the horn. Hopefully, that'll be a better ground. Thanks for the tip!
