I just wanted to say hello and start off asking questions!! I am purchasing a 1990 4runner auto v6 4x4 with 217k miles tomorrow for $800. body is rough but the truck runs and drives! I have heard that the 3.0 v6 in these trucks are a bit sluggish, but when i test drove this truck it took about 10 seconds to get up to 40 mph and when you punch the pedal to the floor the truck would not kick down into a lower gear.... I alson noticed that the idle on the truck was very high, in the 1100-1200 range. the engine oil looks great and so does the coolant, no mixing, the trans fluid it dirty but not burned. I was hoping that you all can give me some advice, I hate to buy a bunch of problems!!! I look forward to hearing and interacting with you all, and this is a great site!!
