First post after lurking off and on for several years. Grew up in a die-hard GM family. I've owned and modified many GM cars and trucks over the years. Finally got fed-up with GMs quality and reliability issues and bought my first Toyota in 2008. Bought a 2006 4Runner Sport Edition 2WD, V6 - it's still my DD with a tick under 140k on the clock. I've been VERY happy with it. Only thing I would change is I wish I had opted for 4WD.

Flash forward to early 2016. My wife was driving a beautiful black Dodge Challenger R/T "Classic". It was her "mid-life crisis" car and when she said she wanted it, I wasn't about to talk her out of it. Unfortunately, she totaled the car earlier this year. Our first impulse was to go buy another Challenger, we even test drove a couple. After some thought, she decided her "mid-life crisis" was over and she was ready to get back into something more practical. Having had such a good experience with my '06 Runner, I immediately suggested we buy her a new 4runner. It took some convincing but she finally settled on a Magnetic Grey 2016 Runner Trail. She's really likes it except she keeps complaining that is too slow! I did install a small lift on the front and set of Method wheels with BFG A/T's on it for her birthday so I think she's happy now. :thumb3:

Thanks! Maybe I should explain her (our) decision a little more... our current plan is for me to take possession of my wife '16 Runner about the time it's paid off. That will coincide with our son needing a college car- so the plan is for our son to take my '06, I'll get the '16 Trail  and wifey get's something new (likely another "hot rod"). That's the plan anyway. In the mean time, I do get to wheel it (gently) now and then. :biggrin1:

Uh oh guys...see that front quarter panel...looks like the OP ended up with one of those Chinese knock off 4Runners.

Everyone in the forum has been talking about these counterfeits...surprised you never read about it.

dang it!!!

Dang it!!! I knew it was too good to be true! No wonder we only paid $6,500 for it!!!! :tongue1:

I have been lurking here myself for a while.

tons of useful information on here. this site has been very helpful on several occassions, but I never really had anything to contribute. I still don't, but since we are now a 4Runner only family, I figured I might jump in and at least participate. :keyboard:

I kinda did the same thing with the wife, convinced her to let me get a 4th gen so I can tow my boat and mods. Instead of the GX.
BTW Nice truck.
