Hey everyone! New to the forum and a first time 4Runner owner, couldn't be happier! I've been waiting to buy my 4Runner for several years, and finally bit the bullet, sold of my cars, and got the car I've been dreaming of. 2000 4Runner 5spd with the Sport Package. Didn't have the e-locker, but I decided to sacrifice that for the low miles (64k!) and cannibalize a junked one for the locker a little down the road. This forum was a HUGE help in the buying process, and special thanks to 4-Ripcord for their time and effort in putting together the 3rd gen buyers guide. Can't wait to poke around in my rig and have some fun!

Got a couple more pics today after I got a cargo basket and bike rack. Hoping to put some dirt on it tomorrow. Anyone in the Portland area have some local suggestions?

I think Brown's Camp is the closest off-road park to Portland (Tillamook State Forest). But you're gonna want to go with someone else, take off those running boards, and get an off-road permit before traipsing out there.
I'm headed to pick up a permit and trail maps today. Removing the running boards is on my list of things to do in the near future. Thanks!

Dont have one yet but am planning on getting a runner very soon. keihen, if you dont mind me asking, what was the asking price of your ride and how much did you finally get it for? Ive been watching several being sold by mm investments and was wondering how workable their prices were. Seems like they price very high

They aren't very negotiable on their prices, but they work with you in a lot of other areas. I paid $15k, and KBB is $14k. They knew what they had, and they knew that I knew what they had, so honestly we started with all the cards on the table. It may different for a higher mileage rig, because they know you can go somewhere else to buy the same thing. Competition is the magic word in negotiation, and there wasn't any except for who was going to get to buy this one. Mazen and Johnny are very accommodating and were more than willing to work with me fix the issues that came up during the pre-purchase inspection. Most of their vehicles are priced just a little bit above KBB because they are very clean. All in all, I'm glad I bought from them. Can't wait to see what you end up with!

Ended up heading out to Mt. Hood National Forest to the Rock Lakes/Frazier Turnaround area. Nothing major, but the goal was to start getting a feel for the vehicle, so it was a lot of fun and I got some stunning views. Might take the running boards off this weekend while I'm visiting my parents so that I can use my dad's tools and leave them in his garage, since I don't really have storage here. Also thinking about the deckplate and ISR mods this weekend because my dad wants to do the same to his '02 Tundra.
Next up: track down a rear locker, OME lift, Tundra front brakes

Finding a 4runner in the Portland area at a decent price is hard. Stay persistant on Craigslist. Most people are asking 7-9k for a 150-200k 3rd gen runner. Every-once-and-a-while you will run into a person that posts for lower. I had to look at 4 different 4runners before coming across one that had good maintenance records and an e-locker. Mine had 230,000 on the original tranny and engine and I paid $5000 2 years ago.
Have you actually gone up there yet? If not, do so. They'll show you around. They're also good about helping you find what you are looking for if they don't have it. I'm pretty sure they just another 4Runner in that isn't listed yet, they mentioned it yesterday when I was up there having the crappy aftermarket tint removed from the front side windows (which they gladly did in about 10 minutes for free).
