The Yukon is home; Saskatoon is for my wife's PhD.
We bought a 99 4Runner SR5 while we were visiting family in Ontario over Christmas (I'd been researching them/reading about them for about a year) and it's in immaculate condition. The original owner was 70 when he bought it, he only drove it in the summer, he has every service record from 0km to 133,000km, and there's only a tiny bit of surface rust underneath. There's no E-locker, which is a little disappointing, but not the end of the world.
There are a lot of old mining and logging roads that lead to some pretty cool places in the Yukon/northern BC that we'd love to explore, so we're going to turn this into a vehicle that can do it reliably. Less of a rock crawler, more of a better-than-stock off-roader.

- replace ball joints and shocks/springs (undecided what kind yet. 99 stock height is plenty high for what we need with 265s mounted; something that can handle a winch bumper in the front and 4 jerry cans + gear in the back)
- rear bumper with platform for up to 4 jerry cans (again, undecided with this one, too. The dual can carriers are nice, but I definitely want space for 4)
- brighter headlights
- some kind of light in the fog light spaces
- sound deadening
- reinforce the roof
Long-term plans:
- winch bumper
- low-profile roof basket
- VHF or UHF radio
- sleeping/storage platform
- any other fun things I think of between now and when the vehicle dies
- rear differential locker (maybe?)
