Well, I've been lurking here for a few months now. I am currently NOT a 4runner owner. I currently run a fleet of Mazdas.
'94 Miata R Pkg, '04 Mazda 3s, and '04 Mazda 6i.
Hmm, I think I like Mazdas.

I have the opportunity to pick up a runner from a coworker for what seems to be a pretty good price.
Details:
2004, SR5, V6, 53K miles, Pacific Blue, It does not have the Xreas suspension or the 3rd row jump seats. Asking $13,000

What should I be looking for as far as possible problem areas on an eight year old 4runner?

WOW, 53K miles on an '04, that's pretty amazing! Sounds like he's asking a fair price for it, especially if it's clean. I don't know of too many problems on the 4th Gens, but there is a thread on the earlier 4th gen's having cracked dash issues. May want to check over the dash throughly for any signs of that.

You may find yourself more of a Toyota fan after you own a 4R. Good luck and welcome! =)
