Hello all, been lurking for a few months and I think I've decided that it's time to do something with the 2007 4runner SR5 4x4 sitting in my garage.
Not new to the Toyota mod scene as I built a (brand new) 2007 tacoma double cab 4x4 several years back that I miss dearly but... life happens and all of a sudden I had 2 kids in diapers and that ended with the taco being replaced by an Expedition.
4 years later, the kids are finally out of the car seats and we really don't need the 3rd row like we used to. So... below is what I'm starting with...
stock 2007 4runner sr5. V8. Aftermarket leather and some BFG's. Currently sitting at just over 65,000 miles. We bought the vehicle new in Feb of 2007. Wife has been driving since it was new so it has had it's fair share of door dings, white paint scrapes from parking lots, typical kid destruction (juice stains and probably 100,000 goldfish crackers somewhere in the back seat). Basically been a kid hauler. Interior neglect and minor body damage aside, I've maintained the mechanical like clockwork so I've got a good starting platform. Really nothing a day at a body/paint shop and a serious detailing can't fix to have a kick a$$ daily and trail truck.
With that said, I will be selling the expedition to get her a new 4runner or grand cherokee (her choice not mine) and I want to deck our current 07 out into my winter driver/summer weekend Colorado trail rig. Look forward to getting back into the offroad scene and learning more about the 4runner. Vehicle is paid for and since I'm not buying a new vehicle for myself in the near future, my wife should be fairly easy on me (knock on wood). She loved the Tacoma I built so I think my sacrifice in selling it might give me some freedom with this one. Not in a rush here either. I'm patient and don't mind buying all the parts piece by piece and doing one big build up. Will be glad to document any work done on the truck. Looking to do coil over, wheel/tires, sliders, winch/front bumper, interior renovation (carpet if it doesn't clean well and I want nicer leather), new head unit and speakers, cb, and maybe fab a rear bumper/tire carrier as I've yet to see an aftermarket option that flows well. Most of these things are already on the forum but more info is never a bad thing. Thanks for letting me lurk and steal some ideas. Hope to get some feedback and suggestions as I start building it. Oh... and sorry for the dirty pics. It snowed in Denver last night.
