My name is Ron and some of you may know me from Club Lexus under my name lexmex, where I am a moderator in the RX-series subforum. Some of you may be familiar to the extensive modifications I have done to my 1999 Lexus RX300 AWD, whose car domain link is in my signature.
What brings me to this wonderful community is our (my girlfriend and I) recent acquisition of a gray 2006 Toyota 4 Runner V8 2WD. We managed to get this wonderful vehicle with a shocking in 19K miles on the clock for you guessed it...just 19K USD and it had been 'overbabied' with Toyota service and driven by a retired couple who took great care of the vehicle.
True to form, I have started out with a few things. I had put in a Pioneer Avic D3 I had lying around from an auction I won. I've removed the hydrocarbon filter and added a K&N and tossed in some Redline WaterWetter into the coolant. Of course, we've only had it 2 weeks, so there's a lot for me to look at.
Somewhat similar to what I've done with my RX300, I plan to add performance and other modifications, though with so few miles on the clock on our new vehicle, these won't come at the quick place I did with my Lexus. I do plan to run some new Pennzoil Ultra Euro 5W30 as a test rather soon with an oversized K&N HP-2009 filter, though if that doesn't prove out, I'll be using the Castrol Syntec 0W30 I've been using for years with my RX300. I'm a big freak on fluids, additives, etc. and have a particular addiction to intake modifications and to a lesser extent exhaust modifications (I've probably ripped up the exhaust of my RX300 more times than I can count (see page 3 of my car domain link below). The 4Runner won't get quite the same modifications, but it will get its love and care.
I hope to be able to contribute a lot of the knowledge I've learned thus far in this wonderful community.
Hopefully if the rain stops sometime, I plan to get up pictures tomorrow of our new 4Runner.
