HELP!!! 3rd GEN Hitch Rust

Hi Guys,

Need some advice!!! The Factory hitch on my 3rd GEN starts growing some rust. I'm wondering how difficult it is to remove the hitch from the truck and repaint them? Has anyone done this? by youself or by an autobody shop?

Any advice will be appreciate

pretty sure there are 4 bolts. 2 on both sides. remove the bolts and the 2 sides that you see come out with the center piece as well. i, personally, scrub it down with a good cleaner/degreases and a wire brush, tape off the warning label, and spray with rustoleum paint in the can. i like gloss black, but i think flat black will better match the factory look. just be sure to tape of and paper the bumper, as it will get some overspray. i did this 2 years ago, and am getting ready to do again this weekend. not bad, considerring the winters we have up here in mass.
