HELP 92' 4r needs motor

Hey guys trying to help my nephew out up in the Yupper , he needs a 3.0 ! This is out there but thought it was worth a shot , Mqt. Mi. Shop found one for 1900$ but had 170k on it . Any where up in that part of country to look for one ? I know west coast TAP but shipping would kill it . Any help is/would be greatly appreciated ?

For 1900$ your into the 3.4l engine price!
No 3.0 is worth more then 800$ as a used engine.
I wish I had a spare to sell you since I'm in west Michigan but no dice. I get some parts from a place in interlocken try them they have a huge yard!

If you need a engine don't be afraid to grab one from a full vehicle then sell it scrap the parts.

I agree with Bad! Just buy a used truck with a 3vze, swap the two around, then re-sell it with the blown motor for a few hundred bucks! That alone should pay for the extra stuff you'll need, like gaskets/seals/etc.

Its not hard to swap motors from identical vehicles, I've done swaps in a day with a couple of friends and beer/pizza!

Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with the motor?
He's at Northern Michigan University?

Getting 2nd hand info , but assume engine blown ? No not at N.Mich , does live n Mqt !

I was told I had a blown motor once but it just needed the injectors cleaned.
I'd suggest some basic diagnostics including a compression test. I've had independent shops tell me things like blown motor just to make me go away.
