Help a 3rd gen guy lift a 4th gen

So my brother just picked up a 2007 Limited 4runner. Its pretty clean. He is about to drop a lot of money on some parts and asked me to help him out. Money is not really a huge issue. He wants to be able to keep up with me and our buddies and also wants to out do us a little on his lift. So after my research this is what we have planned on purchasing.

1. Icon Stage 2 Tubular lift kit.

2. 4Crawler 1.5" body lift

3.Icon Rear shock chin guards

4. Toytec Sway bar relocate.

5.285/65/18 tires I believe he is getting but not sure

So question is what are we missing? Does his bump stops need lowered to protect the shock from over compressing, or help tires from over compressing into the wheel well?

Extended brake lines?

Does he need extended sway bar links along with the relocation?

No love? I researched some more and dont find much on brake lines needed upgraded or bump stops. Toytec does sell a bump stop drop though. Any advice?

That's a solid lift setup that will have all the bases covered. You don't need the Toytec sway bar relocates, all icon kits have them included. Extended brake lines aren't required, but personally I'd add them for better braking performance with the larger tires. Extended bump stops won't be needed with the Icon kits. If he's looking at the long travel rear kit offered by Metal Tech, it does require extensions but those are included. Extended rear sway bar links aren't required, but will improve ride/handling and help with flex off road. You can make your own pretty easy for about $60 in parts.

Man I know he is going to want that extended rear travel kit that I did not know existed. Thanks for the reply!! It helped a lot.

He was going to get the tubular stage 2, extended front for around $2100 shipped. Now I see that Extended rear kit from Metal Tech dont have UCA's included.

I wonder if he will shell out another $500+ for them. If not im sure he can run stock UCA's till he gets them. Just wont get the full benefit of the extended fronts and maybe not best alignment.

My rear end flexes like no other and I know he wants the same. AGAIN THX for the help!!

Two sets of hands is helpful.

Don't be afraid to disconnect more than you need to get the rear. It's a real ***** to push that diff down to get the springs in.

the UCA bolts suck. I disconnected my battery on the driver side so there was enough play on the battery tray. The passenger side there are a couple hard lines, just pull the bolts and move the lines.

The rear shocks need to be compressed to fit into space. Otherwise it looks like they won't fit.

Thanks a lot!!! Very good info, sounds like some of the same issues with the 3rd gen. My brother will be there helping me along. Hope it all goes smooth.

I want to say I was able to squeeze my Superflex in without using the jack initially, but when I pulled it to put the Daystar spacer in, I definitely had to use the bottle jack to squeeze everything in.

Well after lots of cussing and hard work we got her done. With the axle jacked all the way I still had to compress the springs to fit them. I have to say it rides nice. He was really happy. Now need to cut front bumper and still thinking minor body lift. Some pics first is stock.
