Help a brotha out....price negotiation question

Thanks to everyone's wonderful advice, I closed the deal on the following:

Black '05 SR5 V6 with Taupe interior with the following options: moonroof; 17" alloys; leather wrapped steering; 115v AC; doubledecker cargo and of course the Toyo protection group (didnt want it but if they're gonna give it to me..)

Out the door $29,300 with 3.9% APR

Wasn't the best deal around (got a $200 lower offer from a dealer 3 hr's away) but my time is worth more than $200 savings and having to drive all that way.

Salesperson was one of the nicest people I have ever dealt with in a sales scenario (despite the bad rep they usually get (and deserve in most cases). And the finance guy didn't give me a hard sell on any of the b.s. upgrades/maint. plans,etc.

It was 9 o'clock on a Friday night, think the guy just wanted to get out the door and grab a few drinks with the sales guys as they were all waiting outside his office after we were done.

Anyway, thanks again to all who contributed their advice. I look forward to discussing more topics with you guys/gals here. I didn't have a way to bring the car home last night, so I'm off to the dealership now to go pick it up. ;)

MSRP: $33,027
Edmunds Invoice: $29,615
my price: $29,397
 
Go look for a left over '04, even 4x4. I talked the dealer down to 27,000.80 for an SR5 4x4, leather interior & steering wheel, sunroof & wind deflector, rear wind deflector, compass rear view mirror and side mirrors w/turn signal lights.

Too LATE......He's bought the '05 black SR5! Nothing like having that new car smell every morning when you turn the key. I think the price was pretty fair being that he's located in Florida.
 
Your deal sounds normal, nobody is going to get the same deal. I really like the options you have though, I wish they would load up the SR5's over here with those options! I got mine for $28,400 out the door with moonroof, roof rack and carpet mats at 8.25% sales tax and 1.9% financing.

Oh yeah, CONGRATULATIONS on your new 4Runner!

I was definately stoked! I had a hard time sleeping last night in anticipation of going over there to pick it up this morning.

All I could think about was
I can order my black grille Sunday,
get the windows tinted on Tuesday,
Get my Sirius installed Friday,
start shopping out a sub box SAT.....and on and on, and ON!!!

oh and one other thing....
couldn't get the saleswoman off my mind.

Good deal Fortyounces! I know you will love your wife and you will love the new 4Runner purchase. I was a bit jealous of the Sport Edition owners at first but then I got over it the more I looked at my own SR5 everyday. It took about 3 months for me to get over the fact that I didn't purchase the Sport Edition. But with all of the information here about different modifications, I consider it a treat that I can modify my own 4Runner to my personal liking. You will NEVER regret your purchase.....and tell the wifey that I believe ya'll got a good deal on the purchase. Good luck and see you around the forum.

Yeah, I just can't resist a saleswoman wearing nothing but a see through merry widow with a bustier taking me on a test drive....where can I try out the really bumpy roads?????

Taking this thread waaaaaaaaaaaaay of course...but it's over with anyway....

but how in the heck is any man supposed to sit down and spend a good hour+ with a saleswoman who's got the face of an angel, the body of a goddess and the personality of "one of the guys" and NOT walk outta there in a new car.

i got my 05 se 4x2 with all the trimmings for 27,100- 100 over invoice- and the 2.9% finance for 5 yrs.. i think that was good no?
 
sounds like a good price to me. What's the "out the door price"?

look out for those b.s fees as discussed earlier.

tax, tag, title and destination are all you should pay on top of your vehicle price.
