Help a newb out

Well as you most know I bought a 88 v6 auto about a month ago, affectionately known as Latoya. I paid 2200 and I have prob spent that much in repairs. Bear in mind I'm not a mechanic and don't have the ability or time or patience to be one. I need help getting this thing running right. The check engine light come on and it started running terrible stumbling and as if it don't know what gear to go in. I had it scanned and got codes 22 and 51 and 52. The TPS was replaced Two weeks ago along with ECM it also had a major tune up everything but fuel filter. I talked to the local toy dealer and they said the tune up could cause these codes if I didn't use oem parts . The TPS was a Borg Warner brand from autozone installed straight out of the box, do these come tuned properly ? Sorry if that's a dumb question. Code 51 is several things the last of witch is accerlotor pedal/ cable? Does that mean the cable is bad or stretched? Please help as this is my only way to get to work and everywhere else. Thanks

No, you need to calibrate the TPS before installing it. And I'd run tests to make sure your old one is really defective. Google "4crawler TPS adjustment". And then bookmark that site, it's chock full of good info.
 
So if the TPS is out of calibration it will cause these problems of pour running and throwing codes? My only question is it seems it would run bad from the get go not two weeks later?
 
An out of whack TPS signal can cause all sorts of goofy troubles. Whether or not it was defective or needing calibration before I couldn't tell you. Test it out, and if it's good toss it in your spares box.

The new one you've got on there definitely needs calibrated, and I'd do that before you do anything else. If it doesn't fix your trouble, at least you'll know the TPS is good.
 
Code 51 can be the TPS or TPS circuit, Neutral Start Switch, or even a bad signal from the A/C amplifier.
Start by adjusting the TPS per the procedure suggested above.

Code 52 is the Knock Sensor
 
Mine sucks but maybe I can get somebody to do it. Kid you have plenty helpful, would you know what years would work from a yard? Cause I never see 1st gens but I do see 90 and up with the same engine

I'm going to go out on a limb and say any 3.0 should work, 4Runner or truck. I don't know that for sure though so take your old one with you and compare them.
