Help! Axle seal at hub...

Replacing CV, and discovered the seal at the hub is destroyed. Thankfully, I planned ahead and have one handy. However, I haven't replaced this one before, and it's pretty heavy duty: metal ring plus rubber seal portion.

Is there a good way to remove/ reinstall this guy? (PN 90311-A0001).

I had issues with this. The manual calls for a special tool and press but I made due with an old metal coffee cup that was the perfect circumference for the seal and used a 4lb hammer to seat it fully.

Oh and the remove is just using a flathead and working it apart all around with patience.

Be careful not to damage the new seal during the install.

Use the hub cover from the other side. It's a perfect fit on the inside of the seal.

Thanks! I actually wound up using the old seal on top of the loosely fitted new and just tapping with a hammer. I figure: doesn't matter if I damage the one that's about to go in the trash.

One axle down. One to go tomorrow...

Hey, i just tackled this a few weeks ago. I had trouble finding the parts. Thank God for the forum.

The removal was easy.

The install was not bad either. Most people press them in. I just used a dead blow hammer and pushed the top rim into the knuckle then worked my way around the back of seal with the hammer. Went right in... no issues.

Good luck. Whenever i do these types of repairs I always feel like i wrestled a bear all weekend. But it beats the dealer and the mechanic.
