Help, blew 140 amp alternator fuse cuz I'm stipid

Finally got the box separated. A few tips…
1. For whatever reason when I removed a few of the blue large relays the box easily separated.
2. Remove the zip ties that hold both of the large black wires that are wrapped in black electrical tape. This allows you to have way more room to work and move the box.
3. Don’t forget the remove the bolt on the fuse box next to the engine. Then depress the tabs and remove the entire assembly.
4. Push down on the inner fuse box assembly to separate from the outer fuse box.
5. For the 140 amp fuse I believe I used a 10mm and something smaller can’t remember. Don’t lose the bolts! The old fuse easily pops out, slide the new one in, align the holes back up and screw both bolts back in.
6. After lots of adjusting and swearing align the tabs of the outer fuse box and the base and snap it in. Don’t forget to reattach the harness that was secured by the bolt near the engine.

How to remove + connector on fuse box

Any tips on how to remove the connection on the fuse box next to the engine? I've removed the bolt, but had zero luck on the tabs ?? that might release it. Looks like it slides up but it's catching on the tabs - tried using toothpicks to release both sides at the same time but does not give...any suggestions??

140 amp fuse replacement

No, you didn't get it apart. That's how you get to the nut holding the fuse in. The whole thing separates.

You soldered that fuse??? WTF? That's not a good idea...

It also sounds like you may have fried some stuff... Better hope you didn't accidentally hook those batteries up in series and make a 24v system.

dkyleb: Good explanation. A mouse visited my engine compartment and gnawed through 5 of the #22 control wires. I broke the clear cover on my 140 amp fuse trying to get it out with pliers, not knowing it was bolted in!
I will post a few photos of my process when I quality to post. Well done.
