HELP, brake line

hey, working on changing the brakes right now... I cant get the brake line back on the new caliper. any tips? threads look okay to me!

The line broke free from the old caliper without a hitch. put a cap on the end changed out the rotor/caliper. Now the hard brake line wont go in.

Have you loosened the brake lines from the knuckle? Those hard lines can be picky about cross threading, and if you havn't loosened them from the knuckle, then there isn't much give to line the threads up right.

Can you carefully bend and/or twist to get it in? Not sure why it wouldn't go in from the picture.

are you talking about the bolt that is connected to the bracket that connects the soft line to the hard line?

By loosening that up, you should be able to get more angle on where the brake line meets the caliper so the line can thread into it. I would loosen the line from that bracket. What you need is flexibility. I believe that is the one but maybe those with more experience can chime in...

yes. that is the one correct bracket to loosen. My wife's 4runner was about as rusty as your's is so be careful with the bolt. Spray some PB and be gentle. I snapped hers off and had to drill it out. Once that's off you'll have plenty of slack to properly align the hard line and reinstall. Don't for get to bleed the whole system before driving. I know that sounds stupid to forget but I've done worse.

right side is done... the bolt on the left knuckle just wont budge and got rounded. so i stopped for the day, may have to try and line up the left side without the slack.

do I have to bleed all 4 wheels? i thought only the ones I touched?

That flat "clip" holds the brake line to the bolted-on bracket. Use pliers or vice grips to slide it off the line (you'll have to wiggle it a bit) and you should have enough slack on the line.

Front brakes are done! Thanks for the help everyone... in the end i used brembo blanks, akebono pads, napa calipers, and speed bleeders. The pedal feels a little soft, so i think i will go ahead and bleed all 4 corners when i get time.
