Help, Car apart and I'm stuck, IAC problems!

Ok is it just me or does it look impossible to remove the Idle Air Control valve. I have to stick a screw driver into a little more than a 1 inch gap to get it off and Im pretty sure they dont make screw drivers that small, even the stubby ones. What am I supposed to do? My car is apart in the driveway and I cant seem to figure this out.

I just removed mine and it was stuck on there. Put TB in Vise. Remove the 4 Philips screws that hold the IAC on. Use a flat blade screw driver and pry IAC off TB. You will likely destroy the o-ring gasket that is in between the IAC and the TB. Make sure you have a new gasket before disassemble.

Thanks for the input, I have gotten much farther. I took the throttle body off, flipped it over, hammered a 5/16 socket onto the screws and they piratically slipped right off with the ratchet I want to do a DIY when I'm finished on how to do this.

Yeah I service the IAC every year. I am surprised some people don't have to.

After your first time, you'll be able to do it within an hour. I would recommend spending a lot of time on those brass cheese head screws though. They strip really really really easy. Like you, I stripped them the first time and had to pound a socket on them.

This is what i do for stubborn phillips screws, I use an old motorcycle trick. I place phillip screw driver on top of screw, while applying a little tension counter clockwise, I hit the handle of the end of the screwdriver with a hammer and the shock breaks the screw loose.

Works 98% of the time.

Gee,when I learned it it was an old farmer trick for working on tractors.

I'm 12 years and 132,000 miles without touching my IAC. Idles right at 750-800 and starts like it had ether in the engine. I'll clean it if I have to, but meanwhile I'll leave well enough alone. I certainly am not looking forward to getting those screws out.
