So I was the victim of catalytic converter theft. Muffler shop is quoting me $320 to fix, which is good, but they can't see me til Wednesday and it's a long way from my house. Is it ok to drive with the pipe cut off for a few days? Yes, it's loud, but if I get pulled over I will show them the police report and tell my story and hopefully get off. I'm just wondering if I'm going to hurt anything by driving this way. Thanks!

You can drive it no problem. You might throw a code for o2 but not a big issue till you get it fixed.
Probably not to the engine, but slight chance to you! It just smells really bad in addition to the loud noise. Some of the smell, which is bad for you, could go through the floorpan too if you sit in one spot too long.

Exhaust repair kit like this https://goo.gl/images/YQYufy ...they suck, and wouldn't recommend it for long period but it'll get you by for awhile, and they most likely will still have small leaks through clamped ends but still better than what you have going on now!!! Hope it helps

320 sounds like you'll be getting a after market crappy cat.. or a straight pipe.
My buddy sell 4runner OEM cats for the same price of all the ones he recycles.
Muffler shop charges around 100 to weld all together.
Runners don't play well with aftermarket cats..

I had this happen to me in NYC years ago. The good news is that it will never happen again. They only steal the OEM part. Hopefully they were polite enough to leave the O2 sensors intact. I bought a universal replacement for like 60 bucks on Amazon, and then paid some guys at a hole in the wall muffler shop to weld it on. All in I paid $100 and it's been fine ever since. You really can't drive it without one, I remember driving it to the welding shop and my eyeballs were shaking so much i could barely see the road!!

Happened to me too, except they left the cut cat hanging there, they must have gotten scared and bailed without the goods.
Sadly, they cut both O2 sensors so I had to get new ones, but the muffler shop only charged me $70 to weld it back up.

My rig has had a 100 dollar el cheapo after market cat for about 3 years now and I haven't had a single issue with it...
If you have the rear heat option, make sure they didn't cut the lines on that either like they did on mine.....

This happened to me couple summers ago. Jerks took it while I was visiting a friend in the hospital; parking garages have blind spots I guess. I went a week before I could get it fixed. Drove down the street, however it was super loud, kinda smelly, lost a lot of power and seemed like mpg went way down. I recommend getting it fixed quickly, your neighbors will thank you, but you can drive it til then. Fwiw I got an $80 aftermarket cat from a local muffler shop and haven't had any issues or failings, but would've preferred oem of course. Sorry this happened to you!

A couple in CO just got caught by the poop for stealing 100+ cats up and down the front range!!!
Glad they caught them, but thieves suck!!! Not much can be done when they roll up on a lifted T4R with a sawzall....
