Well - it's confirmed - leaking at the water pump.
$1150 estimate.
I'll love to see the timing belt and see if I was lied to about the belt and WP being changed at 105K.
Shitty. Could be inferior part or poor installation. The metal gaskets that comes with an Aisin pump are unbeatable. But shops do cut corners on quality quite often to lower their cost. I refuse to use anything but Aisin water pumps on the Japanese cars.
That being said, it's not a terrible job by any means. Toughest part would likely be crankshaft bolt removal. Otherwise basic hand tools will get you there: 10, 12, 14, 17mm deep and shallow sockets and a ratchet. And a 10mm Allen for the tensioner swivel bolt if you're replacing that too. It's a simple engine when you start taking things apart. Toyota is really good about ease of maintenance.
Good luck.
