HELP..."crunchy/metal on metal" noise from under the rig when accelerating

Well, like the title states I really need help with this because this is going to be the second transmission that I've put in... Before I put in the second transmission in the car, the original transmission (when I first bought it) didn't have the crunchy noises. However, after the original transmission started slipping it started to have the crunchy noises when I accelerates. After a period of time, the crunchy noises kept on persisting all the time when I drive, it doesn't matter when I accelerates or not. During that time that the original transmission was slipping and making all of the crunchy noises, it was still running fine and still went into gears; however, I didn't drive the car often due to the noises and the morning slippage of the gears. After awhile I finally decided to go and get a used transmission. Once I got the second transmission, I took it to a shop to do the swap. When I got the rig back it drove perfectly fine, the rig was driving like it was new again and it didn't have the crunchy noises anymore either; however, after 2 days later "the metal on metal/crunchy" noise started to come back on the 2nd tranny. I remember back in the old transmission, whenever I have change the fluid, there will always be some metal shavings in the fluid. Right now I am scared that this next tranny is going to be shot too. Now my question is, what could be making that noise that I keep on hearing? The noises that I keep on hearing in my second transmission only happens when I accelerates too, which reminded me of my original transmission when it first started having that crunchy noises and then it continue to become a persisting crunchy noises in the gear. Also, on the side note, my car is an automatic car too. Please help.

Sooo... did I miss it? Did you look at your fluid in this tranny? Do you have an external cooler?

If you put in a used tranny not a rebuilt one, you may have changed in something just as used. Not sure why it would be only on acceleration.

new fluids in the tranny and no shavings as of now and yes i do have a external cooler

Has anyone ever had these noises before from their rigs??? Or is it just my rig that's doing this on the second tranny??

a friend of mines 01 4runner blew up his torque converter, made a whirring noise when under acceleration. rebuilt with a tranny cooler and no issues since.

that's the only transmission problem i've heard of in the 4runner, overheating....

ok just tried to get some video and sound clips but cant really hear it but i did narrow it down to what i think might be the front diff. why i think that is because i can feel the vibration and noise from the 4x4 shifter and thats where the most noise is coming from. Here another thing my old one started with the same noise to and then there was shaving in the tranny fluid and started to slip in the cold mornings and at start up. Can the front diff. effect the tranny and its fluids such as having the metal shavings? and i do have another front diff. that came with the 2nd tranny that ive got but i just dont know how hard it is to take out the diff. and i could be wrong and it could be my transfer case? sooooooooo i have no idea whats going on.

oh and the noise only start to happen when the car gets up to working temp and if i drive it for a while too. so it wont start to make the noise at cold start or while warming up.

oh and another thing is that it sounds like an old hard drive in a computer back in the early 90's processing but loader...thats about the best description i can think of
