Help! Drove through water, fried ECU, car wont start

I know this is old, but I just wanted to say thanks for this forum. Pretty much same exact thing happened to me. Off roading, deep water, fried ecu. My fault for going through too deep of water. I was able to drive few hours as well until the car wouldn't start.

I do have a concern though, I got a used ECU programmed and the car is running. But my heater is very weak now. Far left vent (driver side) works well, but passenger side blows cold air. Does the ECU play any role in the temperature control? Is it possible the ecu I purchased is faulty. Thank you.

Same thing happened to me but didnt fix the problem

The inside of my 03 4runner 4.7 got wet. No click, no nothing. Replaced started relay. Nothing. Replaced ECU, would turn over and fire one cylinder and shut down. Replaced fuel pump and fuel relay. Replaced Crankshaft position sensor. Still nothing but turns over and fires once and shuts down. Took to foriegn car specialist. He said I bought a faulty ECU. Bought another ECU and does exact same thing. He replaced Crankshaft position sensor. He replaced fuel pump again. Replaced Ignition switch. He has no idea, and I have no idea. Spraying starter fluid in air intake it will attempt to run so has spark and apparently isnt getting fuel. Have come to think its the Injectors arent getting signal or the security system keeping it from starting. I dont know how to check of fix these. Foreign car mechanic said to take to dealer. I dont have that kind of money after everything I have done already. Any ideas how to check security system or to find out how what controls the signal to the injectors if both ecus are fine?:artist2:
