HELP Eclipse 6620 problems

I had a 5510 and a similar issue but never as bad. I just had it installed and the shop had no clue. The volume display keeps rapidly flashing and it makes it very difficult to use the unit because something is causing the volume function to continue flashing. ONLY when the truck is running. when i power down to accesory power the problem stops.

Anybody have any knowledge on this occurance

Ok, I'm going to go out on a limb here, as I've never installed either of these Eclipse units. Assuming the problems were with the same vehicle, did you use the same harness from the 5510 as with the 6620?

Who installed this unit? Since this is happening with two different units, I think we can assume it is not an equipment malfunction. You didn't mention what vehicle it is mounted in, but it really almost sounds like you've got the tach wire connected to the steering wheel input. Just a guess here.

The first thing I would do, is ensure the power connections are correct (Battery, Accy, and most important, a good ground). After doing this, ensure your speaker connections are correct. This really won't have much, if any, affect on the problem, but if one of these wires are connected incorrectly, more than likely there is another wire that is also connected incorrectly.

Once these are verified, then you can move on to the other wires. Verify your illumination input, reverse, Speed sense, parking brake, & whatever else is there. If need be, cut the wires and start again. It would be a good idea to even connect one wire at a time to see if you can find the one wire causing this problem (or cut and re-splice one at a time).

EDIT: Sorry, just noticed in your sig it's a T4R Limited with steering wheels connected.

Since you do have these connected, try disconnecting this connector with engine running & while having the problem to see if it stops immediately. Then press on with the other wires if it doesn't stop.

I believe this is related to your bluetooth, I was told by another member that the pink wire from the bluetooth is the case of this. try to put this wire a side or use some electrical tape wrap around it a few time. Let me know if that works or not.

Thanks for your help guys! Im going to pull things apart today and take a look. Im really upset about this. the audio shop will do whatever needs to be done to rectify the situation, but im just really irritated with the whole process right now. I really appreciate your help and i will reply with my findings!

1MZ-v8, Ok so you have the blinking volume display also. I took my truck back to the installer and they had to re-adjust or re-calibrate the blue tooth device. On mine they hooked it up wrong somehow and it was constantly sending a mute signal to the radio. Is your volume display constantly flashing? When is it blinking and is there anything else going on?? I will go up to the shop today and ask about what was going on with my unit today.. Im pretty sure its the BT causing this issue

Yes it will blink whenever you have audio on.

I am trying to follow up with GlennD on this thread http://toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39534

Is it a non-stop constant blink, that makes controlling the HU difficult? Try only accessory power (with the engine off). Unfortunately I didnt do the install so i dont know off the top of head exactly what the problem was, but give me a few and i will check back with my install guys.
