I am looking to get a '94 engine to rebuild and put in my '95 (4Runner), Is there anything that I need to know? Are they compatible? Where is the best resource for a complete rebuild kit-$? Any help appreciated....questions?

They are all pretty much the same. Come connectors might be a little different, but as long as you get one mad after 92 (will have the hydrolic tensuoner) it should be the same. I put a 95 motor in my 92 with no problems what so ever.

Are you looking for a full rebuild, or just a gasket set?

Why are you replacing the engine?

Good luck!

I have found a '94 engine cheap(200) and I plan on doing a complete rebuild since it is already out. I am looking for advice, tricks etc. The reason: I have a "dead" #4 cylinder (10 psi) I could tear it town to the heads and replace but I figure for the amount of work I should just replace it and have a spare.....I don't know what to do?!!??

Why buy a core for $200 bucks when you have a rebuildable original engine already? Seems counter-intuitive. If you want to go that route, pull your motor and send it out. But, if I were you, I would tear down the top half and see what the cylinders look like. Could probably get away with rebuilding the top end only.

This man makes a good point!

'94 Runner Gas & water leaks question

We just installed a crate engine in my '94 4Runner. It has all new spark plugs and everything. It runs, but we notice there is gas dripping out of the tailpipe. It does not burn off, just keeps dripping and is definitely gas. There appears to be some water leak, too, but first things first, the gas. Anyone have an idea why it might be doing this?
