HELP!! Have a problem....

Ok...I let the girlfriend drive my runner to her place a minute ago. I mean...what could happen? It's only a mile. Well...when I park, I always use the emergency beak, and apparently she didn't figure out it was on until she had driven there:mad: . Do you know how stout our ER brake is!! Jezus how could you not know! Well it gets worse. She doesn't know how to release the brake...she said she couldn't find it, so she started punching buttons  . I get in my baby and find that she had driven the mile from her house with the center diff locked and the downhill assist on :( . Anyway...I can't get the diff to unlock. I press in the diff lock button and the diff lock light on the instrument cluster blinks and the VSC OFF light is lit (registering diff is locked I think). I release the diff lock button and the diff lock light on the cluster stays lit, but doesn't flash and the VSC OFF light stays lit. The owners manual says to make sure the both lights go off when you release the diff lock. I pulled it in the garage and it drives like the parking break is still on  . Please tell me it's not serious...It doesn't even have 2k miles yet!

Whoa! sorry to hear that:( dunno how the 4th gens system works, have you tried maybe driving on a "low traction" (loose dirt or gravel) in a zig zag pattern to see if it'll unlock then? just a thought. hope you get it unlocked and your rig is ok:)

Locking the diff in 4Hi for such a short drive should not have done anything permanently bad to your rig.

The hill asist control will only operate at speeds below 5mph?

I would put the tranny in N and attempt to unlock the diff. If that does not work, try putting the tranny in R and backup 10 feet. I know backing up is not required on our rig, but it couldn't hurt.

Have you had the diff locked before? At first use, my diff lock would not unlock from 4LO. Scared the white off of me, I was 25 miles from the nearest civilization. Imigine driving 25 miles in 4LO locked?

The system works flawlessly now, it just needed to by used for the first time. I have the V8, maybe the part time V6 uses a different set-up?

I let my father test drive my truck, he ended up getting a AWD '05 Pacifica, and when he got home he asked me about this button on the dash. He had pushed it and drove it home like that!
D'OH!
