Help in Dallas?

Hi folks,

I have a close friend in Dallas who is throwing a P1445, dealer is quoting her around $4,000 to repair. With that high of an estimate I'm assuming they are aiming to replace more than just the pump. I don't intend to throw blame, but I can't help but wonder if they "saw her coming" and are pulling one over on her. Simply put, she doesn't have that kind of coin right now, yet obviously needs a vehicle.

I told her I would put out a feeler to see if anyone would be willing to throw on a bypass kit for her. She will obviously buy the parts and compensate you for your time. We're both assuming this route would be far cheaper than a dealer repair.

If you'd be up for it, please let me know and I'll get you in touch with her.

I'm not in Dallas, but about 3.5 hours south of there. If she gets the kit and makes the drive I can put it in for her. That's a long way to drive, but sure beats $4000. If she can't come up with any other options, I'm happy to help.

Thanks for the offer and tip. Got her sorted, so far the bypass kit is working great. What an insane call by Toyota not to do a warranty or recall fix on this.
