Help installing my lights

im a total noob to electrical. so i looked at the writeup for installing hella500 but im just unclear because what i got in the box was different...

i got a set of hella 700 and the instructions werent that good.

there are 4 wires that come out of one socket.
red
blue
black
yellow

and then i got a green wire that was in a bag by itself


so i know that the black wires run from the little relay cube to both lights.

the red wire has a little C looking plate on it which i know runs to the red side of the battery terminal

the blue wire however has the same C looking plate but its only about a foot long. im confused what to do with this blue wire since its so short. it looks like it should be hooked up to something nearby.

then the green wire i have no clue, but on the instruction thing it just says it goes to my headlights high beam.

i also in a separate bag another blue wire about 1 foot long..with the C plate looking thing

then there are 2 blue wires on each set of hella lights...are these ground wires?

i just want to wire it so i can turn on my lights whenever i want and turn off whenver i want.

EDIT** the on/off switch they gave me says that 3 wires run up to it: yellow, blue and green. but if the blue has that C looking plate on it..there is no way i can hook it up behind the swtich

dont get much easier than this also id run atleast 12-14ga wire to the lights that way you can run 100w bulbs

No you don't need one, but if you start adding a bunch of auxiliary circuits to your rig it will come in handy. They're like 10 bucks and will save a big old mess of wiring under the hood or dash...and it gives you the ability to have a seperate fuse per circuit that you add...and pics of the deal when you're finished are required.:jk:
 
alright so still a total noob at electrical, never did anything like this in my life before. it says from the pics the green wire goes from the switch to aux box or highbeams..however one end of the green wire looks like this: which i donno where to put

also can i just use the regular fuse box instead of buying an aux fuse box? do i wire the green end onto this?

i know blue are ground wires..but do i connect both wires from lights to the blue wire in the middle and ground it with a screw?

thanks Fonerunner..so if i dont need the aux fuse box..do i just use my regular? and hook it to the wire like in the picture i posted above?

I know that I ran the power from the relay straight to the battery...but I've already killed my battery once by leaving the lights on all night so I'm gonna fix that when I put in my fuse block. It's an option though if you're in a hurry like I was. I will have to look at the other wires though to see where I put them. I know the grounds can be combined, the power leads from the lights go to the relay, the relay has a ground, the switch has a ground, and the other wires connect to each other...confused yet?

so basically your saying...run the green wire from the switch to the battery itself? so the red and green wire will be on the battery?

There should be another plastic piece with wire coming out of it. And then there should be a fuse inside the plastic. You can then wire it to the fuse box.

And then there should be a fuse inside the plastic" i know what you are talking about..it should hook right up..but are you saying that that plastic piece with the fuse is located on the vehical? i have the other end of the hook up in the picture i posted.

and when i do put it in the fuse box..do i stick the 15 fuse plug thingy into any slot that is open?

Give me one second. I'll run outside and take some photos of mine for you. I have the exact same lights and wiring harness.
 
The blue wire that is not connected to the lights is the ground wire for your switch. I had to use some different wire because that one was not long enough. Hope these photos help. I just took out a 15 amp fuse that was already in the fuse box. I think it was for my power outlet (can't remember for sure) but it doesn't matter. This is not the best way to do it but it works. Just stick the green wire down in the fuse hole or wrap it around the male end and stick the fuse back in there.

thankss Michael for doing that. im super noob at electrical for cars..this my first time doing something like this. but im still confused with the male end of the green wire...where do you get that? because i have the female end of the green connector wire in a separate bag that came in the box. im just curious where you get the male connector piece that has the fuse thing inside of it
 
no problem. mine came as pictured. if your wiring set is missing it im sure you can get one at any auto parts store. don't quote me on that though
 
yea so today i opened a box up at autostore and found out i was missing the male end of the green "fuse" cable thingy which attaches to the female end... is it still possible just to cut that...put a clamp on it and hook it from switch to battery?

Well it goes from switch to fuse box. I THINK it would work if you just cut it off but not positive.
