Help!! Loss of power 95 T4R

1995 T4R 4x4 3.0 v6

My truck just feels like it has no power.. I know these trucks are not quick but the way its running just isnt right.. I live in colorado and driving up the rockys w/my truck only goes 35-40mph up the hills and thats with me pushing the truck to its max foot down, droped down to 3rd to race the rpms up.. it was horrible.. even in the city its really sluggish.. it puts.. Ive checked the fuel injectors, replaced the plugs.. no gas on the plugs.. all cylinders are firing.. replaced the plug wires.. coil, distributor, changed out maf sensor, and fuel preassure regulator..

Im running out of ideas I need some help

what about fuel filter? i just changed mine and I got an extra 75 miles out of my tank of gas. I also replaced cap and rotor, plugs and wires. these things should help most your sluggish problems. Check your timing.
 
Check engine light on? I'm dealing with the same thing. It happened right after I removed the intake plenum to replace the VC gaskets. I keep getting codes 24 and 31.....
 
I have not switched the fuel filter I'll def be doing that this weekend.. Along with my catilytic converter and starter.. But the timming is in range according to the manual.. I've just never came across this problem in any other car and usually if the fuel filter is clogged it would have issues starting and my truck starts right up in one crank.. Atleast that's what I thought..

No check engine light isn't on but does come on sometimes but haven't been able to get it tested while it was on.. I did replace the vc gaskets but this issue of mine has been going on prior and still going on.. Your issue sound maybe a vacuum hose got switched with another line.. Not saying that's it but it's a possibility, what does the codes 24 and 31 pull up as?

24 is an "intake air temp sensor (circuit)"

31 is an "air flow meter (circuit)"

A mechanic friend suggested they both point to fuel. It only happened after I did the plenum removal. There was a lot of carbon inside. I checked for vacuum with some carb cleaner and everything is sealed up good. If I can't fix it by this weekend he's gonna take over for me....

No, they both point to the AFM, the air temp sensor is in/part of the AFM.

It has 235k miles but I just got the starter in tonight and got it started once but it was running super rich but I was jacked for my catilytic converter recently so I just ordered a knew one I'll be installing it this weekend.. I've heard that might be the problem from a couple other peopl also so I'm hoping that's it.. ( hope it was clogged so whoever jacked my cat can deal with that issue) I think I may hve crossed one of the fuel lines with a vacuum lines when I took the intake off so I'll be checking tht out on Saturday I'll let ya know soon how it turns out...
 
+1 on the cat converter. I had a VW that had the EXACT symptoms you describe. The thing was slow to begin with but had gotten to the point that it could not get out of its own way. And when it got real bad I was 100 miles from home. On the interstate going home I could not get above 40. And going uphill forget it, I was down to 25.
The guts of my cat were shot. Put on a new cat and it was all back to normal.

Finally figured it all out.. had done a compression test and found out that #3 and #4 cylinders had no compression.. valves were stuck.. so come to find out that I needed to have my heads rebuilt.. took them in paid $500.00 to have rebuilt and replaced the #3 and #4 exhaust valves which were bent.. now im currently putting everything back together and new head gaskets,valve cover gaskets, new water pump thermostat and gaskets, painted my exhaust a flat black looks clean replaced the exhaust gaskets and intake gaskets, the guy who rebuilt my heads cleaned up my intake aswell.. everything looks nice.. set the timming and torqed all head bolts and intake bolts down to proper specs, currently im getting everything put back on such as the alternator, power steering and belt, ac hoses, fan and fan clutch, radiator, than put back the intake plenum which I marked all the vacume and fuel lines properly.. o and I replaced the cat aswell prior to having the heads rebuilt but that still wasnt the case.. I just wanted to let everyone know that I finally found the problem and thanks for everyones input..
 
I got the same loss of power problem too!!! i replaced my mass air-flow sensor and my whole engine is rebuilt (including the heads)

did it work after replacing the MAF? I actually replaced that aswell but wasnt the problem with mine.. wished it was because I got the MAF for cheap but ended up being my heads.. expensive but it will be well worth it.. I only picked up the 4runner for $1500 and put $900 total into it.. which is still less than Blue Book and I love that truck.. next is just little things like wheel color, bigger tires, 2" lift, :driving:

95 4runner 3.0 sluggish..... nner

I purchased a used 95 4 Runner, Ran perfect when cold but once warmed up it was extremely sluggish, over rev the engine to get it up to speed, would not shift out correctly, I discovered my fan clutch was bad as well as my air hose was modified with a sleeve that restricted air flow to the engine , once these items were repaired and I also advanced the timing a small amount , the 4 Runner runs great now..

Please
 
How old is your fuel filter? I had the same problem and it was three clogged fuel injectors. The truck was from FL and had fine junk plugging the tops. I posted it on here about 2 years ago or so. My son has the 4 runner and changed the gas tank due to some rust starting to appear. Been running well.

you have a 96 4Runner with a 3.0??:bolt:
96 is a 3rd gen and had either 2.7l 3RZ's or 3.4l 5vzfe
