I have a 2004 4runner V6, brakes got a little squishy and mad this sound upon release of brake pedal insidecab.mp3 • Droplr so after some reading on the forum I decided to buy the ABS module/motor refurbished for 300$ to try and fix it that way instead of 3k for a new MC. Couple of problems Im not sure about I didnt bench bleed the MC when I re-installed the unit so I'm not sure how much that effected it, I never got all the air bubbles out i went from RR,LR,RF,LF then had my friend come over with his snap on scanner to bleed the ABS still never got all the air bubbles out but what was crazy to me is the second day that same squeal/screech noise came back. The guy i bought the module/motor from says there all tested and good so now I'm wondering if it is the MC or did I just mess up by not bench bleeding?The guy is willing to do an exchange or refund thanks in advance I know this topic has been covered a bunch and I found alot of info for bleeding and the scanner I just seem stuck here.

You're in the 3rd gen section and your vehicle is a 4th gen, but since you're here. You most likely still have air in the lines. This is because you didn't bench bleed the master cylinder before installation you had more air to push through your entire brake system than if you would have bench bled. You need to bleed all your brakes again until there is no air coming from the bleeders, then do an abs bleed procedure until you have no air coming from the bleeders. I highly recommend finding the right speed bleeders for all 4 corners and using a clear piece of tubing/hose from home depot/lowes so you can see if there are any small air bubbles still coming from the bleeder or not. Make sure you check your brake fluid reservoir often. If you get too low on brake fluid in the reservoir you will reintroduce air into the system and you're back at square 1.

Just pull the ABS fuse. Have to dismount the fuse box in the engine bay and unscrew the fuse.
Then that should help eliminate that as a source of the sound.
Then purge really well. Then purge some more. If no sound and normal brake operation then reinstall the abs fuse and see what’s what.
Then get on gravel and activate the abs several times. See what happens.

Thanks for the replies sorry for the post in the wrong section been cycling through the forums, I had already removed the unit to get an exchange for another one so Ill have to try that ABS fuse if it happens again, everything ive read points to the accumulator or motor, one thing I read a few places was that people were saying to make sure that it is the exact same model as the one on the vehicle, I bought the re manufactured one online it just said 03-05 the numbers on my units dont match the one I have, is that a thing everything looks exactly the same Ill ask if he has one from a 2004 to send out. As far as when i re install I seen a thread on bench bleeding the M/C but now I cant find it any pointers?
