help me decide where to mount my HAM

Ok gang, I bought a yeasu 1900 a while back and have never mounted it. I am getting ready to do a dual battery setup so I have been trying to get everything installed I am going to hook up to the secondary battery. I have thought about these 3 locations but want to get your opinions.

Option 1 cubby right in front of the arm rest. I will have to cut the bottom out to mount it but should be relatively out of the way here. On the negative side I will be permanently altering the interior unless I source another console.



Option 2 is on the passenger side of the console. Pros is this week probably be the easiest. con's are it will be ugly and in the way off the passenger.


Option 3 is my favorite unless you all can tell me why this wouldn't work, is the cubby of the drivers door.

I have mine mounted on the drivers side of the center console, I used 3m anti vibe double sided tape. No holes, and I routed the cables under the center console. Its out of the way there, and its still very accessible. I can snap a picture of you like.

I would vote no for the door mount. It's a PITA dealing with getting wiring into the door and once you do get it wired, you'll be dealing with catching your mic cable in the door and tripping on it when you get in/out. You may say you'll tuck it in the pocket every time but is it worth it?

When my Icom ham radio gets in I'm going to mount it inside the center console so no one sees it. I will attach a external speaker under the dash somewhere since the radio will be inside the console.
