Help me I've fallen and I'm anal about my bumper not being flush

This bugs me every time I look at my 4runner. I've tried using a jack to bend the bumper back up and it helped a little but the metal doesn't want to stay flush. I even tried bending the brackets that hold the bumper to the frame/car and all that did was make the holes for the bolts not align when re-attaching the bumper. (The picture is after I tried bending it back and is as good as I could get it)

Maybe I'm crazy, but that's normal...All 4 of my 4runners have had that slight gap between the bumper and rear panel. Are you thinking they are supposed to be touching each other?

My '99 Limited (not chrome) does not look like that, gap is even on both sides.

If that were my rig I'd think it was normal.

I mean, you could take the whole bumper off and bend the brackets more or add washers or something to prop it up, but I mean... it's a 15 year old truck, it's going to have imperfections.

Hey you may want to bend the front half DOWN, the rear gap looks good (stock), but from the looks of it you have the front half bent up... If don't have a gap there there is good potential of the two rubbing and then cancerous rust forming there so I would leave it be.

I literally was thinking about this same exact thing. I even got a new bracket at the pick n pull because I thought it would solve it. I still can't get all the bolt holes to line up. Put sport flare/mud flaps into the mix and it really strikes a nerve.

Do you know if it was ever in an accident? Has it been like that since you've owned it?... & is it like that on both sides? There may be a little more of a gap compared to mine but nothing significant...& looks pretty normal. If I picked my truck apart, I'm sure I can find many lines where things aren't fit flush. I hear where you're coming from though, there are times when I'm working on a project and get caught up in the details...hard not to sometimes. If it still bothers you after you've tried to make some adjustments, are there any body shops in your area that you trust to have them take a look?

Your gap is bigger than mine but it's normal with age.

Maybe it shows in-person, but can't really see it in the pic.

If you want to be picky, I've always noticed the rear hatch door where it meet the passenger tail light is not flush as it is on the driver side. But I've noticed to be the same on 99% of 4runners on the road, so I got over it.
