Help me spend wisely the 1st time !

I have a 03 Limited V8 4 runner that i want to remove the tired and old X reas and lift 3'' and NO SPACERS. I like this kit but am unsure if i should go another route with best bang for buck and best parts as i said id like to only do this once. $2000 limit would be great. Tell me what yall think as ive read the whole facts thread and all the tire and pics thread. This will be my daily driver weekend exploration vehicle. Ive chosen this set up beacuase ive experienced the OME sag after worn in. But please tell me what other options there are for price wise.

Looks good to me. But I'd forget about the front sway bar kit and remove the front sway bar altogether. It greatly improves ride quality when removed. You could put that money toward buying or building extended rear sway bar end links.

I personally think you'd be better off spending a teeny bit more money and getting a nicer setup with UCAs:

Even without the UCAs on the 2.0" would be cheaper than toytecs:

I really don't understand why people pay $1200 for a setup based around a set of bilstein 5100s which you can buy for $300 for the set, they just aren't good quality shocks and won't ride anywhere near as well as one of the high end coilover setups. Look around at all of the high end build setups, notice what suspension they run. It sure isn't toytec. And when you can get them for the same price as what you're looking at, it should be a no brainer.

Also they have a discount for forum members so it ends up being a bit cheaper. Look around for the coupon code.

I'd stick with the Toytec kit for a daily driver. In my experience many of the Coilover kits are too harsh for true daily use. But, it depends on how you plan to use it on the weekends too.

Skip the swaybar relocate with the Toytec kit, I dont think you don't need them based in the diameter of the spring/lower perch and lower shock mount centering.

I would vote for LR UCAs, good product and it adds alot of handling back on the alignment....alot.

You can, but you may want to read up on threads about LR UCAs having bushing and weld failures:

That's what pushed me away from them. I'd also recommend the 2.5" front shocks as in that first kit, they are significantly better than the 2.0". Rears in 2.0" seem to be fine. I think it's probably worth it to save up that extra $200 for that kit. Also, after forum discount I see around $2130 for that setup.

Also, I don't think my truck rides harsh at all on a full set of 2.5" with Resi Radflos. You feel a bit more of the road over stock, mostly due to the higher spring rate, but the big hits are absorbed way better. Yes, I daily drive mine. No noises from my suspension either.

You may also want to give Metaltech a call, they might be willing to go even lower than their site lists as they mention in this thread:

I wouldn't say that bilsteins aren't good quality. No doubt they aren't on level with King, Radflo, SAW, or other progressive shocks. However, most people probably don't need the benefits of progressive shocks. I wouldn't throw Kings on a truck I run on slow trails, just like I wouldn't run digressive Bilsteins on a desert truck where you need shocks that build resistance with speed so they won't fade. Toytec sells a lot of kits because the price is right, it's adjustable and performs well for a majority of people (myself included, so I'm probably biased). Just my opinion.

I put a 4th gen on a Toytec ultimate lift, and the sway bar rubbed the coil on the coilover under compression without the relocate kit just FYI. Not sure if this will happen on every truck, just my experience.

I too have found myself in the same boat as you. I have been researching and reading up on the subject and heres what i have came to:

To save a some cash and still meet my needs - OME lift.

To spend what I consider a substantial amount to get a good coilover setup - the Radflo 2.5 mentioned a few post up.

Mine will be a DD and weekend trail use, do to my location nothing fast so I'm leaning towards the OME. Much of the decision depends upon what your "weekend use" consist of.

Thanks to all of you. This is why this forum is awesome. Ive learned alot and continue to learn daily. As for weekend use it will be purpose offrading trips at times so can easily get extreme as we all know. Famous last words."oh ya you can make it ,its not that deep/steep'' Otherwise more so it will be an Expedition vehicle to get to those remote look outs and awesome creek side camping spots so i dont mind spending more now to get the product id be replacing later.
