Help needed for My 3 Front Lift Options!

Hey guys,

It's been over a year since I first installed my ToyTec lift with the diff drop kit, and now my 12 year old factory front struts are finished. I'm looking into replacing them with something better, but I'm getting conflicting opinions on what to go with. I'd like to get a little more lift than I do know, just to clear my 33's better.....and don't want to tackle a body lift......

My 1st option:

Toytec's Bilstein Adjustable 5100 shocks with Eibach Front Coil = $733.38


Second option:

OME 90004 shocks with OME 881 coil and top plate spacer = $714.68


Third option:

Keeping my Toytec front spacer, buying stock replacement Monroe Sensatrac shocks, and new stock replacement coils = $473.00 My dad thinks I can just replace my shocks, and re-use my old coils.....what do you guys think??


I did it on the cheap the 1st time around, and knew that I would eventually have to replace my front setup. Now, I'm not a hardcore wheeler, mainly do light trails, and hate scratching my rig! So would you guys suggest I just do the cheap route again, and just replace with stock replacement stuff and my spacer? The Monroe Stuff is Guaranteed for Life.......

first one you will hate how stiff it is id say 2nd opt should be fine for what you need

Im not a big fan of the OME stuff... I guess having friends that work for Toytec also give me a bit of a bias, but the Toytec stuff is designed for the 4runner, the OME stuff was used cuz it happened to fit. too stiff imho...

but to each their own... the ongoing debate continues...

x2 where did you get $714.68 from? 2 881's springs are around $170 plus $275 for the 90004 struts...

I have the OME setup with the TO spacers and I like it. To me its the rear that rides rough, but you already have the same 890 springs so you should be used to it. That was the only option as I dont care for the super rake with LC coils.

I am no expert, but its funny how people comment that the OME kit was not designed for the 4runner. Sure, Tundra TRD and Landcruiser coils are Toyota and fit a 4runner, but they were never designed for it either. Not saying that I wouldnt use them, but just making a point.

I run the 5100's and love them. For the few dollar price difference I would get them over the OME stuff. Although I thought you could get the OME stuff from Toytec so not sure why the big variance over the normal price as pointed out by Brian for the OME.

Like I mentionned in one of my previous posts, the extra couple of hundred dollars, is for the shipping......That was what I was quoted by "Lisa" at Toytec........crazy I know!

Thanks for the vote! I guess nobody likes the idea of going back to my spacer lift, with the Monroe Replacements???? I'm not so sure I want to go this route either, kinda want some new toys this time around!

No.....at the time, I didn't know what Steezemcqueen could/would do that....I read it later in the 3rd gen lift thread..........I'm definately going to PM him, and see what he could do for me!

I can give you the 5% discount but unfortunately we can't do anything on the shipping. Sending stuff to Canada is just really expensive. The actual shipping costs aren't really that much. Its getting it through customs and the brokerage fees are what kills you

where in canada is it going Fightman? are you close to the border?

even a couple hours drive would prob save you a bunch of money to have it shpped to an address in the states close to the border and then go get it.. thats if you are within a few hrs...

I live about 3.5 hours from the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario / Michigan Border.....would probably cost me about $100.00 in gas, driving the Impala.....wouldn't I need to pay the fees at the border though?

Anybody else have some input??? What about the whole driving to the border thing? I just realized, I don't have a passport, can't cross over to the US without one now! F%^K!
