Toyota 4 Runner ticking over too quickly and smoking... HELP PLEASE!!
I have a 1993, 3 litre turbo diesel UK model Toyota 4 Runner. I have recently had a brand new cylinder head, brand new head gasket with new cam and valves, brand new fuel rail and the existing injectors reconditioned, new timing gears fitted also but there were no marks on the timing gears. The engine is ticking over at 1500 revs and doesn't drop to 500 after being warmed up. It is also smoky and wont pass an emissions test. Could it be the timing gear that works the diesel pump that's not set up right? I have been to the Toyota garage but they have never done any timing gears on a Toyota 4 Runner before. Can anyone help please?
