HELP...new member in need of help...4runner wont start after spark plug change

It’s Alive!!

Hey guys!!!

So I did everything suggested.. I removed all wires and coils checked them all for the correct resistance. I checked the cam shaft position sensor and the power to the coils. Everything checked out and when I put her all back together she fired right up. However now I am getting a check engine light and a ton of constant white exhaust cloud.. need to locate my reader to see what’s next :/

#1) Recheck the wire routing.

#2) Make sure you made all your electrical connections at the coil packs - the electrical connection is fully snapped into the socket.

#3) Make sure the wires are properly connected to the coil packs - fully snapped in also.

#4) Make sure you have the spark plugs wire boots pushed in fully making a connection with the spark plugs on the driver side.

#5) Like somebody already mentioned, make sure you reconnected your Mass Air Flow electrical connection on the air tube.

If you do all that, your vehicle should start. There's been LOTS of people that have screwed up the spark plug wiring so don't assume that there's no way you made that mistake. Recheck your work and you'll find the solution.

I'm praying that this is my issue too. It sounds exactly like what OP was getting.

The spark plug wires don't make a whole lot of sense in regards to the lengths. It's really easy to use a short wire where a long wire is supposed to be and before you know it they are routed wrong.

If all you did was remove the intake, a few sensors and the plugs, coils and wires those are the only things that can make it not start. You didn't blow anything up, I promise you that. If there's any large hoses completely disconnected (like the one on the back of the accordion tube) that will also cause it to die.
